Google Duo starts integration with the Google Pixel's contact, messages and dialer applications

Google Duo , a video calling app and Allo, Google’s personal assistant chatbot and instant messenger are now reportedly beginning to receive direct integration with the Google Pixel’s dialer, contacts and messaging applications. [caption id=“attachment_4128735” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image: GSMArena[/caption] According to a report by GSMArena, the latest versions of the Contact, Messages and Phone app spotted on the Google Pixel 2 show up a video icon alongside the name of the contact who is on Duo. The icon can be spotted in the call history window, alongside a contact’s name on the Contacts app as well as within an SMS chat window. The new versions of the applications are yet to be rolled out globally, hence Pixel users eager to see the integration will have to manually install the APK. The report also pointed out that Duo gets preference as the default video application of choice only if the carrier on which the user is on, does not provide a native video calling option. According to an earlier report , Google Duo now also supports picture-in-picture (PiP) when on Android Oreo . Since Duo is a communication tool, PiP support means that you can now continue to have a conversation with whoever you were having a conversation with while continuing to use your phone.
