Google Drive, Gmail and Google+ Photos to get 15GB of unified storage

Over the next few weeks, Google will be rolling out 15GB of unified storage space between Drive, Gmail and Google+ Photos for free, instead of the existing separate storage. What this means is users will have a wholesome 15GB of storage space to use between the aforementioned services. Currently, though, users have 10GB of storage space set aside for Gmail, another 5GB for Drive and Google+ Photos.

Say, you’re a heavy Gmail user, but don’t use Google+ Photos that often, then this update completely makes sense, because it will allow you to make use of your unified storage space the way you want. Those who wish to better understand how they’re using their storage space can check out the Google Drive storage page that Google will be updating soon. When users hover over the pie chart, they will be able to see a breakdown of their storage use across Drive, Gmail and Google+ Photos. Users can hover over the pie chart to view a breakdown of their storage use across the services. This is also the go-to page for those who wish to upgrade their storage space – plans start at $4.99/month (approx. Rs 273) for 100GB.

Know your storage better..

Importantly, users are no longer limited to a 25GB upgrade in Gmail — any additional storage they purchase now applies there too.

In addition to Drive, Gmail and Google+ Photos, Google Apps has received shared storage. Over the coming weeks, Google Apps customers will get 30GB of single storage space to use between Drive and Gmail. Files created in Docs, Sheets and Slides do not come under the storage quota. This storage will also be shared with photos larger than 2048 pixrels. Thanks to the update, Gmail inboxes for Google Apps customers are not restricted to 25GB anymore. Any additional storage that users purchase can be shared and used by Gmail.
