Google Doodle Snow Games continue with a focus on a turtle that's obsessed with the sport of 'curling'

It’s day two at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018 held in South Korea and after the first day, we have a new Google Doodle that showcases another exciting episode from its ‘Doodle Snow Games’. [caption id=“attachment_4344497” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] The Google Doodle Snow Games[/caption] While Day 2 at the Winter Olympics sees a tight schedule for the athletes at Pyeongchang, the animal athletes participating Doodle Snow Games seem to be equally excited about the competing in the sport of ‘curling’. For those not in know, ‘curling’ is a sport in which players slide polished rounded stones on flat ice with the target of stopping exactly in the middle of the four concentric circles that lay ahead. While the idea of a polished stone sliding may sound like fun (or a game bowling) the key here to maintain the momentum of the stone so that it halts exactly in the center of the concentric circles. To accomplish this, two teams with four players take turns with first sliding the heavy granite stones. Once set in motion it is up to the two sweepers with brooms to to speed up or slow down the momentum of the rock. They do this by sweeping the ice in front of the stone that reduces friction making slide faster and further or vice versa. Ralf Roletschek[/caption] In the ‘Doodle Snow Games’ episode on Day 2, the competitive turtle called seems determined to win the game. Once it takes off it uses a secret technique of sticking its head out to control the spin and ends up stopping exactly at the center. [caption id=“attachment_4344499” align=“alignnone” width=“1280”] The Google Doodle Snow Games[/caption] Seventeen doodles will be put up on the Google search in total. Fifteen more are yet to come. The  **Winter Olympic Games** will take place from 9 February to 25 February 2018. There will be 92 countries participating in the Games this year. The mascot of the games is Soohorang the Tiger.
