Google could introduce native ad-blocker for Chrome by next year

Search engine giant **Google** could introduce a built-in ad blocker in the Chrome browser next year, the media reported. The ad blocker has been spotted in ‘Chrome Canary’ app browser which gives an insight into what the product would be like. Users can download the recent ‘Chrome Canary’ from Google Play Store to try it out, TechCrunch reported on Tuesday. [caption id=“attachment_3885215” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Google Chrome Google Chrome[/caption] Google has made it clear that it wants to tackle what qualifies as ‘intrusive ads’. The content that is to be blocked would be determined by a group named the ‘Coalition for Better Ads’, of which Google is a member. Other members of the group are News Corp, **Facebook** and The Washington Post. Google could make the feature live sometime next year, the report added. The addition of a built-in ad blocker in Chrome is likely to stir a debate as the company has been making a majority of its revenue through its own ad business. This also comes days after a new commit on the Chromium Gerrit  page implied that the Google Assistant is coming to Chrome OS. According to XDA, the commit reads, “add Google Assistant settings to the settings UI.” and seems to confirm things when it also says, “launch an Intent when the ‘Google Assistant Settings’ button is tapped.” It is clear now that the voice assistant will arrive on Chrome OS, keeping in mind the above entries, but there’s more. There are some more files that surfaced on the repository, which hint at Google Assistant arriving on Chrome OS. These would include, google_assistant_handler.cc and another google_assistant_page.html, those which prove that work is being done on getting Assistant to Chrome OS. With inputs from IANS
