Google celebrates Children's Day with 'Create Something for India' doodle; winner from Andhra Pradesh

Google today celebrated 'Children’s Day' along with the birth anniversary of the India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, with a special doodle created under its Doodle 4 Google 2015 contest.

Google today celebrated 'Children’s Day' along with the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad, with a special doodle created under its Doodle 4 Google 2015 contest. The theme for the Google 4 Doodle was ‘Create Something for India’.

As a part of the contest, the company received entries from many children across the country. Out of the 12 finalists, the winning entry was by 9-year-old P Karthik from Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan from Andhra Pradesh, and his doodle has been displayed on the Google India homepage today. The doodle shows a Plastic to Earth Machine, which is an idea aimed at reversing the damage done to the environment due to increased industralisation.

Karthik describes his doodle as, "This machine will recycle all the plastic waste from our country and turn it into a material which helps the growth of mother nature. This machine will turn the most powerful evil plastic into green."

Group two participant, Saloni Singh of UK Convent School, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh describes her doodle as, "My machine will solve the biggest problem of our country poverty. This machine will feed poor and then educate them so that they can move away from poverty and move closer to prosperity"

Group three participant, Sumedh H Supe of Delhi Public School, Udaipur, Rajasthan describes his doodle as, "This device would allow people to work while they sleep. People will be able to think of their most creative/imaginative thoughts in their sleep while everything is recorded in this machine and then in morning a print out can be taken to make these dreams into reality."
