Google announces 8th edition of "Doodle 4 Google"

Google today announced the 8th edition of its annual competition, “Doodle 4 Google.” The competition, in addition to celebrating important events, festivals, achievements and anniversaries in the country, celebrates the creativity of young minds. The company is inviting creative, intuitive and curious students from all across the country. Students from Class 1st all the way to Class 10th can compete against each other to take over the Google homepage for a day using their artwork. Last year, P Karthik, a nine-year-old from Visakhapatnam won the contest for his doodle entitled “Plastic to Earth Machine.” The doodle illustrated a vision for India where plastic material was recycled to help reduce pollution. The theme for this year, as decided by Google is “If I could teach anyone anything.” The students will design a doodle showcasing what they believe is a skill that will change a person’s life or help make the world a better place. “Young minds with their imagination and creativity bring ideas that holds the power to build our future. From classroom subjects to valuable life lessons and everything in between, our aim is to encourage kids to learn and inspire others with their creative thoughts and talent,” said Sapna Chadha, Head of Marketing for Google India. A panel of jury members will select twelve finalists who will get a chance to spend a day at Google’s office to expereince the Google work culture. This is in addition to the winning doodle being featured on Google India homepage on Children’s Day on November 14, 2016. It is estimated that the competition recieves around 1 million entries each year for the competition.
