Google has launched its AdWords service in a new mobile avatar in the UK, US and Germany. Google Inc. is now testing mobile ads to enable Google AdWords’ customers to place marketing messages in Google mobile search results. The service was earlier tested in Japan for over four months.
The Mobile ads contain two lines of text, with a limit of 12 or 18 characters per line, depending on the language of the advertisement. If users select the option to directly connect to their business phone, a Call link will appear next to the destination URL in the text message. AdWords, which are priced, based on auction, cannot currently be tracked by advertisers, but Google promises that they will offer conversion tracking in the future.
A Google spokesperson told iMedia that Google is focused on developing innovative technologies that further improve and enhance their users’ experience on their mobile phones. He added that they will continue to evaluate the mobile ads pilot and will refine the product based on feedback from their advertisers and users.
