DRM-free digital game distribution platform Gog.com has kicked off its summer sale. To commemorate the sale, the website is giving away hack-and-slash RPG Torchlight for free for a limited time. Other than this, a bunch of great titles are up for sale, both classic games and newer indie titles.

Some of the more impressive games up for grabs include 2011’s stellar RPG The Witcher 2, which is at a 70 percent discount, bringing its price down to $5.99 (Rs 357 approx). Also in the sale are Dungeons and Dragons-based RPG Neverwinter Nights 2 for $9.99 (Rs 600 approx), post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout for $4.99 (Rs 300 approx) and Richard Garriot’s Ultima VII for $2.99 (Rs 180 approx), among many others.

Indie games up for grabs include first-person dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock for $7.49 (Rs 450 approx), space combat game Strike Suit Zero for $4.99 (Rs 300 approx) and survival game Don’t Starve for $9.99 (Rs 600 approx), among others. As is usual for seasonal sales these days, the line-up of games on sale will change every day.

Gog.com started off as Good Old Games, where you can get DRM-free copies of classic games that have been re-coded to work on modern machines. Thanks to the early success the company saw, they began adding more recent titles, both AAA as well as indie.

This is just one of the many summer sales we’re going to see in the next couple of months. Valve will soon be announcing its own popular summer sale for digital distribution platform Steam.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
