After launching the incredibly thin Elife S5.5, Gionee is all set to step up its efforts with another sleeker device. If
reports
around the web are to be believed than Gionee is working on a new smartphone
codenamed GN9005
that is a mere 5mm thick. At 0.2-inches thick, it will be half a centimetre thinner than the Gionee S5.5. The sleek profile may come with a tradeoff as the specs don’t really look very high-end. The smartphone will come with not more than 4.8-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution. Under the hood, one can expect a quad-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 1GB RAM. All of this will be fuelled by a 2,050mAh battery. Though not a great set of specs, at 5mm, the company can still boast of crafting the slimmest phone in the world. We are interested in seeing how Gionee deals with the heat dissipation in this device. It should be noted the current best-selling Apple’s iPhone 5s is 7.6mm thick and its arch-rival Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is 8.1mm thick. The Gionee Elife S5.5 was launched in March for an MRP of Rs 27,199, but it’s now available in most retail stores for approximately Rs 22,000. Read our complete
