Gionee has launched the Elife E8 in India at Rs 34,999. This is for the first time that Gionee has decided to go online and will be selling the device exclusively via Snapdeal. The smartphone will hit stores on October 12.
"Honestly speaking this is something new we are trying and we don't know how this will pan out. We feel that brands who go online only, do so to save on infrastructure or investment costs. Gionee has already invested heavily in India and over the last couple of years we've increased our sales. So Snapdeal approached us with an interesting offer and we decided to try out the online + offline model," CEO Arvind Vohra told Firstpost.
Gionee is known for offering premium looks and superior camera, and the Elife E8 is no different. It sports a premium metal unibody design and a whopping 24 MP rear snapper.
The camera features True Tone LED flash, lossless zoom, phase detection autofocus (focus in 0.08-0.2 seconds), OIS and support for 4K recording. The camera software will enable users to click photos up to 120 MP resolution. A front-facing 8MP camera also makes it to the specs list.
The Elife E8 comes with a 6-inch AMOLED display feauring 2560 × 1440 pixels of resolution. Under the hood, one can expect a 2GHz Mediatek Helios X10 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM.
Gionee promises fast charge support and also a fingerprint sensor with recognition accuracy of about 99 percent.
