Gionee Elife E6: Unboxing and first impressions

Gionee’s flagship smartphone, the Elife E6, was launched in India yesterday at an event held in Delhi. The E6 is priced at Rs 22,999 and is available across the nation through retail outlets and online only via the Gionee store. The smartphone has a 5-inch display, but the highlight is its design - the unibody design gives it a sleek look and premium finish.

The E6 has a 1.5GHz quad-core MT6589T Cortex-A7 processor with 2GB RAM and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with UI customisation on top. However, navigating through the device is slightly laggy. The E6 comes pre-installed with several third-party apps. On the back there’s a 13-megapixel camera that employs a Sony Exmor R sensor and has a 5-element lens. The camera UI looks quite simple too.

Take a quick look at the unboxing and hands on with the Elife E6:

Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the Elife E6:

  • 5-inch 1080p full HD display
  • 3G, Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • 13MP rear camera with auto-focus, 5MP front-facing camera
  • 32GB internal memory

The battery included in the E6 is a 2020 mAh Li-Ion battery, which could pose an issue considering the high-end internals. The smartphone will be available in black and white colours - the white version gets a glossy finish while the black one gets a matte finish.
