Gigabyte launches HD series motherboards

Gigabyte, a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, has launched its latest HD series motherboards, bringing dual digital display support, including HDMI and DVI, to a range of value segment motherboard models.

All DIY enthusiasts can now enjoy true HD display capability using the most commonly integrated digital output technologies on today’s HD displays and TVs.

“The new Gigabyte HD motherboard series means our customers can get much more bang-per-buck from their value segment motherboards,” commented Henry Kao, Vice President of Gigabyte Motherboard Business Unit. “Adding dual digital display ports to this segment really sets Gigabyte apart from the competition, raising the bar for value segment motherboard design.”

Digital output technologies such as HDMI are becoming the de-facto standard on most HDTVs and PC monitors, with the advantage of carrying both HD audio and video signals over a single cable. As well as offering higher screen resolutions than analog display outputs, digital display outputs also offer support for the latest 3D media content as well as access to protected content via HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection).

Having access to dual digital displays is also a great way to increase productivity, offering much more on-screen real-estate than entry-level motherboards typically provide.

Gigabyte HD series motherboards integrate Gigabyte Ultra Durable 4 Classic technology with built-in features that prevent common malfunction threats. Protection against humidity, electrostatic damage, power failure and high-temperatures is achieved using a range of technologies and features including glass fabric PCB technology, Lower RDS (on) MOSFETs, anti-surge ICs, solid capacitors and Gigabyte DualBIOS.

Gigabyte HD series motherboards span both Intel second and third generation Core and AMD A-Series platforms, creating a range of affordable motherboards. The motherboards in the series are the GA-Z77-HD4, the GA-Z77-HD3, the GA-B75M-HD3, the GA-H61M-HD2, the GA-F2A85XM-HD3, the GA-F2A75M-HD2, and the GA-F2A55M-HD2.

Recently, Gigabyte had announced its dual Thunderbolt series of motherboards that support 4K resolution monitors in configurations derived from two Mini DisplayPort connectors, each capable of 2K resolution output.

“Desktop PC motherboards are all about cutting edge features, performance, and upgradeability, and this is why Gigabyte was the first motherboard company to adopt dual Thunderbolt ports instead of the single port option,” commented Tim Handley, deputy director of Motherboard Marketing at Gigabyte. “When combined with other innovative products, such as EIZO’s 4K resolution FDH3601 monitor, Gigabyte Thunderbolt motherboard users can enjoy next generation display options with their existing platform, without having to wait for future 4K resolution standards.”

Gigabyte states that as the first motherboards to be certified by Intel featuring dual Thunderbolt ports, the ‘TH’ models offer up to 10Gbps data transfer speeds from each port. This means one can transfer HD graphics and data simultaneously. Gigabyte explains that each Thunderbolt port complies with the DisplayPort 1.1 standard (with support for 2K resolutions from each port), and therefore provide a combined resolution of up to 4K.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
