Gigabyte Adds Dual-SIM GSmart Rola to their Phone Range

Gigabyte have long been synonymous with groundbreaking motherboards, but their mobile phone entries have gone largely unnoticed. Hardly anyone will remember their first phone - the GSmart S1205, which supported two SIM cards and ran on Windows 6.5. Looking at how well the Android OS has done though, Gigabyte’s latest addition to its phone range, the GSmart Rola, will follow many other phones’ footsteps and carry Google’s OS - version Froyo. Leaving the operating system aside for now, the GSmart Rola apparently has some quite mundane features but makes up for it with its connectivity support.

Keep Rollin’ with a GSmart Rola

This is what GSmart Rola features:

  • 3.2-inch WQVGA Resistive Touchscreen

  • Wi-Fi, 3G with HSDPA support, GPS with aGPS support and a digital compass

  • Bluetooth

  • 3 Megapixel fixed-focus camera

  • 512 MB onboard memory and microSD card support

  • FM Radio

The phone is powered by a 528 MHz processor and has 256 MB RAM which is matched, or surpassed by most of the smartphones available in the market nowadays (for e.g.: the LG Optimus One or the Samsung Galaxy 3 ). Then there is also the possibility of only one of the two SIM slots supporting 3G. With all that said, does the GSmart Rola really justify its price tag of 175 Euros (approx Rs. 10,450)? We’ll find out when the phone launches early next year.
