Get off Twitter and call your Mom: Twitter

So it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow and you haven’t really thought of the best way to wish her yet. You’ll probably want to drop her a nice SMS or maybe even change your display picture on Facebook to one with your mom to show her how much you love her. Or, considering the fact that your mom is on Twitter, you’ll send her a tweet. But Twitter has a message for you: What the hell are you doing? Call your mom!

In a special “public service announcement” on its blog, Twitter describes how it has become the go-to place for the newest trends, following everyone from friends to celebrities and more, but it doesn’t wish to become the place where you impersonally send out wishes.

The ad starts off like any other stereotypical one that talks about the achievements of Twitter and what you can do with the service, but that’s not what the point of the ad is. The narrator of the ad pretty much loses his cool when it looks like the guy is about to send his mom a tweet wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day.

“What the f**k are you doing? Give your mom a call!” Your mom deserves more than just a tweet, says Twitter. Especially if you live away from her, you should make an effort to connect with her on this special day.

Of course, this doesn’t just apply to a select bunch of people who are away from home. Even if you do stay with your mum, you should take time off Twitter as “it’ll still be here” when you’re done making it special for your mom.
