If all goes well, you will be able to play Gears of War on your Standard Definiton TV.

Ushering in the era of High Definition is fine by me, but what about people who can’t afford to spend oodles of dough on high end HDTVs? What about them, huh? Even after spending a lot of cash on a next generation console, they get something that looks like total crap. For example; Peter Jackson’s King Kong, when played on Standard TV’s was way too dark, while in Capcom’s zombie-fest, Dead Rising, a lot of the in-game text suffered, as a result of which people missed out on a lot of dialogues.

But now, for all of us whose dad’s aren’t billionaires we have a couple of games to look forward to as developers are now waking up to the fact that not everyone can afford such expensive TVs, and one of the first developers to test their games on SDTVs are Epic with their most awaited survival/horror and totally awesome shooter, Gears of War. Don’t believe me? Head on over to Epic’s forums to read it for yourself.

See! There is a God after all.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now. see more
