The Borderlands 2 character roster looks like it’s going to have a new member. According to Polygon , Gearbox has teased a new DLC for the game that will sport a sixth playable character.
The teaser was shown at the end of a panel that was led by Gearbox’s Jonathan Hemmingway and Matthew Armstrong at SXSW International. “Deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped,” said the trailer. “Bandits beware, a new Vault Hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits.”
Presumably, the new character will be focused on melee fighting as opposed to the heavy emphasis on guns by the other characters. It will be interesting to see what gear Gearbox will add to the game for the new character – as every other piece of equipment consists of guns – and how you can make your guns shoot better.

The fifth character was part of a pre-order bonus. Dubbed the Mechromancer, the character was later made available to buy as regular DLC. She relies mostly on skills related to engineering and has a skill tree named “Best Friends Forever”, which made the character ideal to introduce non-gamers to the game.
The previous Borderlands 2 DLC released by Gearbox was Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt . The DLC revolves around a hunting expedition that goes sour when the players are caught between a new villain and his dastardly plans. The new villain’s plans are to restore the legacy of the main antagonist of Borderlands 2—Handsome Jack.
“Irresistible new loot, memorable new quests, a variety of challenging and exotic new enemies, a new vehicle and more await players as they fight their way through the never-before-seen lands of Aegrus to give this evil-doer the old one-two!” the Borderlands 2 blog said.
The existence of Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt was originally revealed via trophy names in a Borderlands 2 patch . Soon after the leak, Gearbox confirmed the DLC. There wasn’t much information that was revealed through the trophies though, other than the name of the DLC and the existence of trophies for completing some missions. The trophies mentioned hunting side missions, discovering “named locations” and the “Fall of Nakayama”.
Since the release of the Sir Hammerlock DLC, Gearbox has been pretty quiet about the last piece of DLC that would be part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass. The new character could possibly be part of the last piece of DLC for the game.
Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
