With all the different Android-based gaming consoles coming out, namely, the Ouya, GameStick and GamePop, there’s another one in town—the GamePop Mini. This is basically a smaller version of the same GamePop that is being developed by BlueStacks. It is supposedly around the size of a pack of bubble gum, and it will be free for those who buy a 1-year subscription to the GamePop gaming service.

“We’ve said it before, but we’re working really hard to build a ‘Netflix for games,’” BlueStacks’ CEO Rosen Sharma told The Verge . “We can’t do that if we don’t get subscribers. And we think people will be more inclined to give us a shot if they don’t have to pay for the console itself.”

The subscription alongside the GamePop Mini will be available starting July 1. The subscription fee for the GamePop service is set to cost $6.99 per month, which roughly translates to Rs 416.

The Mini, while being able to play the same games as the regular GamePop, does lack some things, such as some ports and compatibility with accessories. The company, however, isn’t revealing too much about the hardware of the GamePop Mini. “We aren’t ready to get into too much detail on hardware just yet,” Sharma said.

The GamePop itself is currently available for free if one gets the 1-year subscription, much like the Mini. However, this promotion will end on July 1, when the Mini will be avialable. After which, the GamePop will cost $129 (Rs 7,680 approx).

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
