Fujitsu has become the latest entrant in the perpendicular storage market. They have just introduced their new 2.5 perpendicular magnetic recording HDDs. The MHW2 BH lineup based on this new storage method will be available in six models from 40 GB to 160 GB and will run at 5400 RPM.
Fujitsu has also mentioned that they will soon be launching a consumer electronics friendly MHW2 AT series too. The MHW2 AT is based on current storage methods and its major advantages will be low power consumption and reduced nose levels at making them ideal for consumer electronics.The 80 GB and 160 GB models are expected to arrive in October. Pricing of the new series has not been announced yet.
