Free games for PS Plus subscribers in April headlined by Demon's Souls

It’s a new month, and that means PlayStation Plus subscribers get a bunch of new games in their free Instant Games Collection. Headlining PS Plus this month is From Software’s unforgiving and depressing RPG Demon’s Souls. Other than that, Plus subscribers will also get Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for the PlayStation Vita, Malicious and Labyrinth Legends for the PS3, and Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge on both the Vita and the PS3.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

In Demon’s Souls, you play a lone warrior as he travels across Boletaria in an attempt to stop the ancient evil that is slowly consuming the place. Along the way, you also save souls and bring them back to a place called The Nexus, which also acts as a hub where you can level up and buy and upgrade equipment. The game is notorious for its difficulty and the only way to beat the game is to go through the levels slowly and to assess every situation before getting into fights.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny lets you fight as one of many returning characters from the series, with each having been enhanced with tuned balancing, new moves and animations. Play the dedicated single player game mode: Trials, developed exclusively for this Soul Calibur outing and evolved versions of classic game modes like The Gauntlet and Versus. Blow away your competition using finely tuned and enhanced battle mechanics including critical finishes, Soul Crushes and equipment destruction and unleash devastating combos.

Coming to PlayStation Network next week

A classic in its own right

Malicious is an indie game where you take control of the Spirit Vessel and battle waves of brutal fighters and colossal enemies to rid the world of the evil force.  Gain new weapons, build your powers and perform devastating combo attacks as the final showdown between good and evil draws near. With a beautiful art style, Malicious is a treat to look at and will be coming to PS Plus later this month.

In Labyrinth Legends, Brave the mysterious tunnels, mystical crypts and maniacal creatures of Labyrinth Legends. Explore hidden catacombs and ancient tombs of lost civilizations while evading concealed traps and solving an array of intuitive puzzles. A combination of exploration, tricky puzzles, and monster-slashing arcade action makes Labyrinth Legends worth a look especially since it’s free for the month.

Last but not least, this month brings us Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge.  Pick your side in the epic war between two evil masterminds: apprentice-gone-rogue Orville Tycoon and his army of heavy-duty zombies, or his vengeance-thirsty mentor Professor Brainhov and his frantic masses of agile undead! Post Z-day, Tycoon’s mad machination to extinguish all life in Finkleville has almost reached its apogee. During the final siege on the human fortress, his former mentor makes a sudden comeback, seeking retribution for his apprentice’s betrayal and eager to reclaim his rightful place as alpha mad scientist. The game supports cross-buy and cross-play between the PS Vita and the PS3 versions.

The games that will be leaving the Instant Games Collection this month are Spec Ops: The Line on April 2, Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on April 9, and Anomaly: Warzone Earth on April 16.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
