Free DOD:S weekend coming soon

Good news for those contemplating on picking up Day of Defeat: Source. Valve is planning yet another free weekend for this WWII online shooter, after new content was made available to the public yesterday. The update released yesterday included new maps and a new mode called Detonation. Here’s the lowdown from Valve themselves:

Yesterday we released the Summer 2006 Update for Day of Defeat: Source. Judging from the games we’ve had on the public servers running the new maps, Jagd and Colmar (click each to see trailers), people are having the same kind of fun we were having around the office before we released them. If you still haven’t purchased Day of Defeat: Source, you’ll get a chance to play the new maps in about a week, as we’ll be having a second Day of Defeat: Source Free Weekend. The second free weekend will commence at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time on July 7th, and conclude at 1:00 p.m Pacific time on July 10th.

I highly recommend this game; it was by far one of the most enjoyable (and addictive) shooters I’ve played online. dods.jpg

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
