 "Foursquare launches revamped app for Windows Phone 8")
It’s about time! After a bucketload of updates to its Android and iOS apps, Foursquare is showering some love to the Windows Phone platform. A new Foursquare app created from scratch has made its way to the Store for Windows Phone 8.
The all-new Foursquare for Windows Phone 8 is built in collaboration with Microsoft and Nokia. The app seems to have a strong Nokia connect with this revamped release as it is said to be specially optimised for the company’s Lumia line of phones. “Some of the Lumia models even integrate Foursquare data into their augmented reality experience, so it feels like you’re in the future when you’re finding cool places and money-saving deals,” reads a Foursquare blog post.
Snazzy new design for Windows Phone 8
The app has been pushed to version 3.0 and has a host of new features that make it well adapted to the Windows Phone 8 ecosystem. You will now be able to pin people and venues to the Start menu of your phone. You can also now check-in to locations using NFC. With this version, Foursquare is letting you use your voice to search, find, check-in and more. The more you use the app, the more intuitive it will get with its recommendations for things to do in your area.
Forsquare’s all new Modern-UI based redesign is pretty snazzy too. The rectangular shape we’ve come to associate with the Windows Phone 8 platform has been used generously across the app. The features are well spaced out and the app is uncluttered to boot.
Sadly, Windows Phone 7 users are not going to receive this update. Foursquare has cryptically promised an update to its Windows Phone 7 app, though. We will “stay tuned” for more, Foursquare. We hope you will send some TLC to that app too!
