Until now, airline passengers could bring in TVs worth up to Rs 35,000 as part of their baggage allowance, but they may now have to pay 36 percent duty and other charges. Starting August 26, the Indian government plans to ban duty-free import of flat-screen televisions. Apparently, an estimated 1 million television sets were brought into the country last year – many from Dubai, Thailand and Singapore. This news could upset many, especially those who buy electronic devices from the Middle East or South East Asia. So we decided to check the possible LED TV options under Rs 35,000 available in India. We looked at four leading TV brands to find sub-Rs 35,000 LED TVs that are worth checking out.
Samsung's Smart TV under Rs 35,000
From Samsung's kitty, the UA32EH4500R came across as a decent 32-inch LED TV option. With support for Wi-Fi Direct, it brings all Smart TV functionalities from browsing web to Samsung apps and AllShare. The Smart TV comes with 1366 x 768 resolution and is priced at Rs 32,900. Besides, it features two USB ports, two HDMI ports and supports DLNA. The audio experience is spruced up by Dolby Digital Plus. Those who are looking for a full HD display and can let go the Smart TV functionality can take a look at the UA32EH5000RLXL model from Samsung's Series 5. Priced at Rs 35,000, it comes minus the Smart TV functionality but offers full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution. It retains most of the specifications found in the UA32EH4500R.
LG 32LN5150 LED TV has transforming design
The 32-inch 32LS3700 LED TV comes across as a decent option from LG priced at Rs 35,000. Its Advanced IPS LED LCD panel sports 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. On connectivity front, you will find USB and HDMI ports. It has roped in Smart Energy saving features such as Backlight Control and Screen Off. Like most LG TVs, it is DivX certified to play DivX and DivX HD videos. Another option is the innovative 32LN5150 LED TV priced at Rs 31,500. The 32 incher comes with LG's "transforming" design, which lets users convert the TV stand to a rack. Some of its highlights are 1366 x 768 IPS display, Triple XD Engine for colour, contrast and clarity, lightening protection, summer heat protection, humidity protection and stabiliser-free operation.
Sony's Smartphone Ready Bravia
The KLV-32EX330 model from Sony's EX330 Bravia Direct LED TV series is a cool 32-inch option. Priced at Rs 32,900, it sports a WXGA display and features the Bravia Engine 3 that filters and sharpens the image in order to eliminate distortions and noise. It supports two HDMI ports, one USB port, FM radio, USB Play and more. The MHL connectivity will let users enjoy their phone's stored media and apps on TV with the “Smartphone Ready Bravia” ability. This will also allow smartphone users to access apps like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google Maps on the big screen. Panasonic TH-L32E5DW sporting the angelic white hue
Panasonic’s Viera range offers cool 32-inch LED TV options in the form of the Viera TH-L32E5D and TH-L32E5DW (white), priced around Rs 30,000 and Rs 31,000, respectively. The Wi-Fi Ready Smart TV features an IPS display with full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, four HDMI and two USB ports, Viera Link, game mode and Eco navigation. According to our Market Watch conducted in April, 32 inch is the preferred TV size and Samsung the preferred brand, followed by LG and Sony. The Samsung LE32E420 and LG 32LS3400 were the hottest selling 32-inch LED TVs.
