Flipkart ‘The Big Freedom Sale’ to take place from 9 - 11 August; features a Xiaomi 72-hour sale

Flipkart has revealed the dates for its upcoming sale event, ‘The Big Freedom Sale’. The sale will start on 9 August and will go on until 11 August 2017. The e-commerce giant has revealed all the discounts that it will offer as part of the deal. It has also revealed that it will offer up to 72 percent off as discount to celebrate the 72nd Independence day of the country.

Xiaomi 72-hour sale

The company is also running a 72-hour sale for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 where users who want to buy the smartphone will get Rs 1,000 extra on the exchange offer. One thing to note here is that Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is India’s number one selling smartphone at the time of writing, as detailed by Flipkart. The page explains the features in MIUI 8 along with a prompt stating that Android Nougat will come to the device.

Xiaomi is not the only device that the company is offering discounts on and Flipkart has given a number of interesting discounts at this time. The notables one include Rs 2,000 off on Moto G5 Plus, Rs 3,000 off on Moto M, Rs 2,500 off on Lenovo Vibe K5 Note, Rs 18,001 off on Google Pixel XL and Rs 1,000 off on Lenovo K6 Power. The company has also provided a discount of Rs 19,391 on iPhone 7 32 GB. The discounts are not limited to specific models of smartphones but the company has also listed discounts on brands.


Flipkart has also launched a new section in this sale with the name ‘#JustIn’. The company will be selling the devices that have just started selling on the website, on a discount. One of the most notable additions to this is the fact that Flipkart is selling Kodak Ektra for Rs 16,990 along with the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Max 2 for Rs 16,999. Other newly launched devices include Moto E4 Plus and Moto C Plus.

Televisions, Appliances

Some of the interesting deals in the Television market include discounts ranging from Rs 2,001 to Rs 4,501 and even Rs 5,501 on Vu Television sets. Other important deals include Rs 5,491 discount on the recently launched LG smart TV with a 32-inch screen. Then there are deals on the Smart TV range by Onida ranging from Rs 2,500 on 24-inch LED TV to Rs 5,491 on 31.5-inch LED Smart TV. However, an interesting deal saw discount of Rs 15,991 on the Onida 55-inch 4K LED Smart TV. The company is also offering up to 30 percent off on 32-inch and 43-inch Smart TV’s from LG along with newly launched Smart TV lineup from Sanyo with attractive introductory prices.

Both Canon and Nikon are offering discounts on its entry-level DSLR cameras for first-time users. These discounts range from 5 percent on the Nikon D3300 to up to 26 percent off on the Canon EOS 1300D. One of the few interesting deals that we saw in the camera section was the sale of Nikon D3300 with Kit and Zoom lens for Rs 33,999, down from Rs 44,950.

‘Electronic Devices'

Flipkart has added 31 items to this list ranging from Budget laptops with Rs 2,000 off to exchange offers on printers with up to Rs 1,000 off and 40 percent off on new printers to 2-in-1 computing devices, gaming laptops with up to Rs 20,000 on exchange offers, smartphones like the Alcatel A2 10, Lenovo Phab 2 Series, Micromax, Swipe Strike 4G, and iBall Slide Snap 4G2, gaming accessories with extra 10 percent discounts, gaming consoles like PS 4 Slim with 500 GB hard drive with discount of Rs 1,140. The company has also added Apple iPad Pro with extra 5 percent discount and Apple iPad with no cost EMI on new models.

‘Made in India’

Last but not the least, Flipkart has also added a new section called ‘Made in India’, where it is offering discounts on devices that are made in India. Most of the devices listed on this list are from designing or clothing brands but you can check electronic devices from Onida, Micromax or even Ambrane and Samsung to avail these discounts.
