Flipkart teams with Karbonn to bring four budget smartphones starting at Rs 2,699

Karbonn mobiles has launched four new budget smartphones starting at Rs 2699, exclusively on Flipkart. According to a press statement by Flipkart, the smartphones in the list are Karbonn Smart A52+, Karbonn Smart A12, Karbonn Smart A11 and Karbonn Smart A50S. Interestingly both A12 and A11 are not yet available on the site, while the other two are listed. The duo is calling the range the “world’s most affordable smartphones.”

The two lower-end phones, Karbonn Smart A50S and Karbonn Smart A52+ run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The Smart A50S is a dual-SIM device with a 3.5 inch screen, a 1.2 Ghz dual-core of unspecified make. It sports a 2MP back camera and a digital (presumably VGA) front camera. This is a 2G smartphone though, so the front cam can only be used for Skype on Wi-Fi or for selfies. Priced at Rs 2,699, it has 256 MB RAM, 2GB total memory and a 1100 mah battery. There’s no mention of a microSD card slot.

Karbonn Smart A52+ is also a dual-SIM smartphone with a 3.5-inch screen. The rest of the specs are the same as A50S except this one has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, along with a slightly bigger 1300 mah battery. The price is Rs 3,099.

The other two phones run Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Karbonn Smart A12 has a 4-inch IPS display and dual SIM slots and a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor. On the back is a 5 MP rear camera and there’s a digital front camera as well. This one is a 3G smartphone, so you could make video calls, if the OS supports it. It gets 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB storage space, and a 1400 mah battery, with a price tag of Rs 4,099.

And finally, the Smart A11 has a larger 4.3 inch IPS display, but shares the other specs with the A11. It is priced at Rs 4,499.

Karbonn or Flipkart has not mentioned the display resolution of any of the models, and there’s very little information when it comes to connectivity features.
