Flipkart launches Flyte eBooks app for Android devices

Online store retailer Flipkart has joined the ebook wagon with the launch of its own Android app for ebooks. The app is called Flipkart Flyte eBooks and you can download it from the Google Play Store.

Flipkart launches Flyte eBooks app for Android devices

Online store retailer Flipkart has joined the ebook wagon with the launch of its own Android app for ebooks. The app is called Flipkart Flyte eBooks and you can download it from the Google Play Store. To download app click here.

Flyte was intially started as Digital music service, where users could download DRM music from the site. The ebooks sections of Flyte is still in beta.

When you download the app you will find an option to log in via your Flipkart account or Facebook or Google account. The app comes with five pre-loaded eBooks, which are The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, and preview versions of Only time will tell by Jeffery Archer, Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone, E L James’ Fifty Shades of Grey and Chanakya’s Chant by Ashwin Sanghi.

The app also offers some free eBooks though these appear to be mostly classics. To search for books, click on the Shopping Bag icon on the top right hand side of the app and it will take you to the categories. You can scroll right down to browse according to categories.

The Flyte eBooks store currently has 100,000 books starting from Rs 30.

When you go into eBook reader format, you have the option of choosing night settings. Click on the settings icon on the top right hand corner and you can edit the font size, the screen light and choose the option to read in night mode.
