Flash sale in seconds: Xiaomi Redmi 1S goes out of stock on Flipkart in 5.2 seconds

Flipkart and Xiaomi continue its ‘gone in seconds’ trend even with the fourth round of sales for the Redmi 1S. This week the company had put up 60,000 Redmi 1S units on sale. It has now revealed via its social channel that all the units were sold out’ in 5.2 seconds.   The Flipkart page now reads “Out of stock” and says “today’s Redmi 1S sale is now over.” The next sale is on September 30 at 2PM and the registrations will begin today at 6PM. According to the online buzz, Flipkart now lets you buy the device until 6PM and not midnight as stated earlier.   The **Redmi 1S**  is Xiaomi’s second blockbuster smartphone, following the higher-end  Mi 3 . Just like the Mi 3, it comes with high-end specs at an economical price tag of Rs 5,999. Following the similar annoying strategy seen during Mi3 flash sale, users will have to register with Flipkart to participate in the sale. Registration doesn’t guarantee a unit and it only means you are eligible to buy one. The company claims to have already received over 1,00,000 registrations, but the window is still open. No wonder, the company is accused of creating more demand than it can supply.   The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. There’s an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera.   Compared to smartphones in the similar price range, the Redmi 1S sports a larger and sharper 312 ppi display, thanks to the HD resolution.
