The Fitbit Charge 2 is an improvement on the Fitbit Charge HR. There is a cardio fitness level tracker that scores your cardio fitness based on activity tracking, heart rate and user profile. There is beat to beat tracking to determine breathing rate, which are used for relaxation sessions which encourage users to take long, deep, slow breaths. There are real-time visualizations and animations to better help users calm down.
The automatic tracking of different activities, including walking, exercising and sleeping has got smarter. There are now real-time exercising stats that allow users to make adjustments and tweaks while working out, in order to get the most out of a session. If you stay stationary for too long, the tracker reminds you to move. There is a multi sport mode that allows tracking of specific activities such as running, biking, yoga or weights. For runners, there is route tracking through gps pairing with the smartphone app, as well as real time statistics on the pace of the run and the distance covered so far.
The Fitbit Flex 2 is swim proof, 30 per cent smaller, and features a removable tracker. The tracker can be removed from a band and put into other wearable, including pendants and bracelets. This allows for customisation, and a range of premium accessories are available for the Flex 2. These include gold plated bangles and necklaces. The Flex 2 is water resistant for up to 50 meters. An LED light shows progress towards goals, as well as acts as an indicator for alerts.
There is also an immersive experience called Adventures. Adventures is an augmented reality addition to the Fitbit app. Your steps through your mundane daily routine is tracked to steps through trails across different locations. You can uncover hidden treasures including health tips, mini challenges and facts as you walk about. Trails are available in a few locations as of now, including the Yesomite National Park and the TCS New York City Marathon, with more locations coming soon.
