The 2X is a fully loaded Android smartphone and comes equipped with all kinds of goodies like:

  • 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, 512MB RAM
  • 4-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (Gorilla glass)
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA support,
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash

  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • HDMI-out
  • 8GB internal storage, expandable to 32GB via microSD

The model that actually got into the records was the Optimus 2X SU660 that was out in Korea on Jan 25 2011. The model that’s available here is the P990 that’s priced at about Rs. 30,000 (MRP). Although it’s been launched with FroYo a Gingerbread update should be just around the corner.

LG Optimus 2X indeed is the world’s first dual-core smartphone (both announced and released). This achievement was acknowledged by the Guinness World Records – the Optimus 2X is the first dual-core phone available to the public.

Congratulations to LG and stay tuned to this space for the full review of the Optimus 2X P990.
