We’ve been following Firefox’s news for a while now and it’s pretty clear Mozilla is taking the rapid release cycle seriously. As promised, Firefox 6 will arrive in August, this coming Tuesday to be exact. Firefox 5 was just launched on the 21st of June. Startup times of Firefox 6 should be quicker and there will be some cosmetic changes in the address bar as well. Users of Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 are expected to be forced to install the new Firefox 6 when they visit the About page. This is a similar update system to Google’s Chrome browser.

Firefox 7 isn’t too far behind either. The boffins at Mozilla recently integrated a memory optimizer into the Firefox 7 builds. A blog post made by Nicholas Nethercote claims that Firefox 7 will be between 20 and 30 percent more memory efficient than Firefox 5 and 4 and sometimes, even 50 percent. Firefox 7 is expected to be released on the 27th of September this year. If everything goes according to plan, Firefox 8 will be here in early November and Firefox 9 in mid-December.
