Microsoft has launched the ‘ YouWeCan’ app exclusively for the Windows Phone, thereby pledging its support to Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s cancer awareness initiative ‘YouWeCan Fight Cancer’. As per an official statement by the company, the application is a ‘A try and buy App’. YouWeCan is priced at Rs. 565, which gives users an opportunity to contribute their bit to fight cancer most directly, as this is what one Cancer detection costs. The company claims that buying the app may help the user save at least one life without having to do much! In addition to that, users can also donate money or volunteer time with the Yuvraj Singh Foundation or use the App to buy YouWeCan T-shirts, Caps and Ribbons. To begin with, users will have to go to Windows Marketplace and download the YouWeCan application - they can then proceed to contribute their bit to the cause.

The aim of the app is to spread awareness about Cancer. Yuvraj Singh has shown that fighting cancer is a battle that can be won with awareness, early detection and the desire to fight. YouWeCan App puts the spotlight on this with exclusive pictures and content, through his inspiring journey from his childhood to Man of the Tournament of the 2011 World Cup to brave cancer survivor. It also includes key facts about different types of cancer and benefits of early detection.
New Windows Phone application
The statement adds further that it’s the paid version of the app that really gives every user the chance to be a hero against cancer. Once the full paid version is downloaded, a large portion of the payment automatically goes to the Yuvraj Singh Foundation for anti-cancer drive. With the click of a button, users get an opportunity to create their own personalised digital T-Shirts, signed by Yuvi himself. These digital T –shirts can be used by the user to start as many personal campaigns as needed against cancer; they can be used on Facebook or Twitter as a profile picture which will also help spread the word about cancer. Additionally, users of the full paid version can also enter the weekly YouWeCan contest with questions around Yuvraj Singh, cricket and cancer. Even as users do their bit to fight cancer, the App rewards contest winners with unique YouWeCan memorabilia and gives them the chance to have their picture as the cover photo of the App as Contest Winner for one full week. So get set to be counted against cancer and be a hero like Yuvi.
