Gamers can breathe a sigh of relief as Eww, I mean Uwe Boll (the man known as the game-r(e)aper) is no longer in charge of directing the Fear Effect movie that’s based on the PSX survival horror of the same name.
The movie will be directed by Stanley Tong, the man behind a lot of memorable Jackie Chan flicks like Supercop, First Strike and Rumble in the Bronx and will be set in the future featuring a bunch of mercenaries as they fight off hordes of demons to rescue the daughter of a billionaire.
According to producer Mark A. Altman, “The film will stay faithful to the original game, describing it as Mission: Impossible meets Silent Hill.” The movie will be shot in a variety of locations, including Shanghai and Hong Kong, and is expected to cost nearly $20 - $25 million.
Expect the movie by late 2007, or early 2008.
