YouTube is courting controversy again, with the video of a violent arrest by Los Angeles police, which has sparked off an FBI inquiry. The video, uploaded by a passer by shows a man being beaten up by two LA policemen in Hollywood, filmed in August this year.
According to the officers, the arrested man, William Cardenas was trying to flee and resist arrest, so they had to use force. In the footage, the man can be heard saying that he cannot breathe as one of the officers presses down on his throat with his leg. As the video became more popular on YouTube, the FBI got wind of it and the matter is now under investigation. Los Angeles police chief, William Bratton called the video ‘disturbing’ and expressed concerns over the actions of the officers.
The two officers have been reassigned to administrative work while the investigation is carried out.
