Fake IMF Spam email Doing The Rounds

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has just warned internet users of a fake email doing the rounds, claiming to be affiliated with the organization. While the spurious emails have already targeted recent immigrants and others in certain cities in the US, there seems to be a sudden spike in the number of such emails in circulation. The IMF has alerted authorities about phishing attacks where recipients are being deceived into disclosing personal financial information. Moreover, the spam also involves ‘spoofing’ in which a fake IMF Web site is created with false contact details to mislead potential users. IMF officials have stated that the organization does not send any unsolicited business communications to individuals, and clarified that they have nothing to do with the emails.
