Facebook has announced that it has rolled out a brand new version of Page Insights for admins to be able to track their post and page performance better as well as provide them with more information about users on their page.
In a blog post announcing the rollout, Facebook announced that this new Page Insights tool has come about after gathering feedback from early adopters of the revamped version that it rolled out earlier this year. The update includes some much requested features as part of the analytics.
With this new rollout, Facebook has split apart the People Talking About Metric into separate elements – Page Likes, People Engaged, Page tags and mentions, Page checkins and other interactions. The Virality metric has also been renamed Engagement Rate and in order to help admins gauge overall post quality better, includes clicks as part of the measurement.
Revamped Insights rolling out now
Facebook says that it now has a post-specific scorecard that aggregates metrics for positive interactions and negative ones so marketers can evaluate metrics side-by-side per post. Page Insights will now also let you see who you’ve engaged and not just reached. The social networking website has also made exporting better. In addition to the old exporter, there’s a new one that lets you track the new metrics in Page Insights.
If you’re really worried about Facebook Insights changing too much, don’t worry. All APIs associated with the old Page Insights will still be available. Any future changes to these will be announced in accordance to Facebook’s Developer policies. The social network will also work to add APIs for new Page Insight metrics as they become available. There is going to be no immediate plan to change the People Talking About This metric on pages.
Facebook has said that it’s still gathering feedback, so if you own a page you can feel free to tell Facebook if you do not like certain things about the tool.
