Facebook's Lifestage app for teens, comes on Android

Remember Facebook’s Lifestage app , which essentially meant its social media app only for teens, that was launched in August on iOS. Within two months, the app has now hopped onto the Android platform. You can download the app from the Play store. The app was called as Facebook attempt to woo younger audiences, who it is believed to be losing to apps like Snapchat. The app is testing features such as gamification elements, video profiles, among other things. And, it is widely believed that even if Lifestage fails, these features could be incorporated in Facebook later. The company has been trying to take on Snapchat for a while now, and the most recent Stories and repeated failed attempts at acquiring as well as building a Snapchat-like app will vouch for it. “Lifestage has so far failed to find significant traction, however – it’s not a viral hit. According to App Annie’s metrics, the app has dropped to #1289 in the Social Networking category on iTunes, which hits at slow adoption,” a Techcrunch report points out. Meanwhile, another announcement from Facebook reveals that the Branded Content policy has been updated to include Verified profiles. The branded content tool will work the same for Verified Profiles as it does for Pages, and you can get started here. “As branded content rolls out to Verified Profiles, publishers and influencers will continue to remain responsible for understanding their legal obligations to indicate the commercial nature of the content that they post,” Facebook writes in a post.  Read the  Branded Content Policy, to know more.
