Facebook is currently testing a feature which will make it difficult for users to forget or miss birthdays of their close friends and family. The social network will display a big, friendly banner on the top of your news feed announcing that it's someone's birthday.
According to a report by Washington Post, the banner is similar to the polite greetings that some users have started to see, wishing them a good morning, afternoon, or evening by name. In an e-mail to The Post, Facebook called it a 'birthday experience' and is specially designed to remind users as to when one of their closer friends has a birthday, in an attempt that one does not forgot to wish them or post basic wishes on his/her timeline.
A Facebook spokesperson also pointed out that the feature currently being tested aims at making Facebook itself more "present inside of the product, to build positive emotional experiences and show people that we care."
Recently, the company introduced new tools to help users get over their ex partner. Users who recently changed their relationship status soon see a prompt that will guide them (if they wish to) about how to use the new tools. The new breakup tools (that can be accessed from your smartphone as well) will allow a user who has gone through a rough patch to “take a break” by simply blocking all notifications (comments, posts, updates) from your partner. Another tool allows you to visit your partner’s account only if you wish to.
