Facebook reportedly testing Truecaller rival

In the bid to go all-mobile, Facebook is now said to be working on a new app  that will display information about who is calling. The app dubbed ‘Phone’ will also feature automatic blocking of calls. Looks like, the company plans to launch a Truecaller competitor. [caption id=“attachment_259899” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”] ![Image: Android Police](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/fp_phone.jpg) Image: AndroidPolice[/caption] According to a report by AndroidPolice, Facebook has accidentally sent out a new update asking users to try out the new ‘Phone’ app. It asked users to tap on install or update, but on doing so the social network pops up an error that reads, “no page found”. The update shows the [FB-ONLY] tag, which means it may have been slipped out accidentally and the app is still stored internally on Facebook’s intranet for security purposes. “Phone will block calls from commonly blocked numbers and show you detailed information about incoming calls, a lot like the Whitepages Caller ID app. Presumably, Facebook will also be anonymising your incoming call data for marketing and research purposes, because why else would they want to release an app like this?” adds the report. However, the company has confirmed to VentureBeat that it is simply one of the things the social network is testing and there is nothing to announce right now. Recently, **Facebook**  had also disclosed plans to add a new feature to its Messenger that allows friends to send and receive money through it. Users can tap or click a dollar icon in a new chat window to send money to their friends, after they link a Visa or MasterCard debit card issued by a US bank to their accounts. The free feature will roll out over the next few months for users in the United States who access Facebook Messenger through desktop computers or Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating systems on mobile devices.
