Facebook-owned Oculus adds social games and new features to Samsung Gear VR

Oculus has announced that the Oculus Video app on Gear VR would incorporate a new Facebook video tab that lets users connect their Facebook and Oculus accounts to bring personalized information to one’s VR content absorption experience.

Oculus has announced  that the Oculus Video app on Gear VR would incorporate a new Facebook video tab that lets users connect their Facebook and Oculus accounts to bring personalized information to one’s VR content absorption experience.

Oculus mentioned via a blogpost , “The immersive sense of virtual reality is even more compelling with friends. Today we’re adding new, made-for-VR games to Gear VR that let you team up with friends or compete against people from all over the world.” It also stated, “We’ve also added the ability to create rooms with friends in Oculus Social. Now you can watch Twitch or Vimeo streams in a room with people you know.”

The company is adding two new social games specifically made for virtual reality as well. One of them is called Social Trivia, which is available in the Concepts section of the Oculus Store. The game is created by Oculus and allows your friends and you to compete in in a battle of knowledge respectively. The other, is Herobound: Gladiators, which is a multiplayer co-op adventure game, via which your friends and you can work together to conquer goblins and demons in arena battlefields using the integrated voice chat.

In the coming weeks, users will also be able to like and share their favorite Facebook 360 videos from within VR and the company also says that it will release new tools for developers that make it easier to create more social VR games and apps.
