After facing criticism for years, Facebook has slammed its critics with a mobile-ad surge and has begun focusing extensively on its mobile products. Now, in an official blog post, Facebook has announced that iOS and Android app developers can integrate the ‘Like’ button in their apps. This means that when using these apps, you’ll now be able to click ‘Like’ within the app. You’ll also be able to invite friends or share notifications without leavig the app. This does not mean that the Like button will be staring at you all the time. According to the instructions given by Facebook’s Todd Krabach, the button should ideally display after you’ve spent enough time with the app or on the app’s main screen. Karachach also advises developers to add the button in areas where it can give a clear and seamless experience to make it effective for first-time users. Some apps could show the Like button as a pop-up when the user’s engagement with the app is high, though first-time users could see it on the main page or in the app’s settings. The Like button would make no sense if there’s no Page dedicated for the app on Facebook. Facebook has given developers a heads-up to create Pages for their apps (if they haven’t already) where they can post updates and engage with their fans. Here, users will also find tips and links that will take them directly to the app. While app users have little to benefit from this announcement, it should come as great news for app developers who can use the feature to drive app downloads and engage better with their audience.
