Facebook announced that it has began the global roll out for group calling support for Android and iOS devices. The announcement was made by Messenger chief David Marcus on Facebook.
He stated, "Really excited to announce the global roll out of group calling in Messenger today. From any group conversations, just tap on the phone icon to initiate a group call. You can then manage individual participants on the next screen. If you have the latest version of Messenger, you should see the phone icon appear in group conversations within the next 24 hours. Give it a try, and as always, let us know how we can make it even better for you!"
The limit on the call group is 50 members. Users will start seeing the phone icon on top of a group chat. Tapping the phone icon will let the user select which of their friends in the group will participate in the call. Once a user has joined a group call, they will be able to see who's participating and even invite others to join.
Facebook recently also announced a suite of tools designed to help Facebook users more easily communicate with businesses using Messenger. Now, businesses will be able to see their Facebook Page usernames being heavily promoted across the website, and Facebook will offer new ways to communicate with them such as Messenger Links, which are short URLs, and scannable Messenger Codes. These features are said to roll out in the “coming weeks.”
