The internet is a funny place and some things just aren’t meant to make any sense. Take this video of a lady in a Chewbacca mask for instance. Why is it so funny? Why did we watch it for the tenth time and still burst out laughing when the Wookie brays? We don’t think we’ll ever know, and neither will the 144 million people who’ve seen that video.

Yes, you read that right. 144 million. “ The simple joys of life… ” is, at this moment, the most viewed video on Facebook Live, ever. What’s in the video you ask? Why don’t you just go ahead and watch it?

“I’m such a happy Chewbacca!”

A stay-at-home Texas mom walks into a store and picks up a Chewbacca mask. The mask brays when you’re wearing it and your mouth is open. The mom excitedly unboxes the mask, puts it on, laughs, the mask brays and the mom breaks out into the most genuinely joyous laughter that we’ve heard in a long, long time, accompanied by more braying.

That’s it. That’s all there is to the video—pure, unadulterated joy. And yet, we can’t stop watching it.

Mark Zuckerberg himself invited Candace Payne, the aforementioned mom, to Facebook’s headquarters where she got a chance to meet the Facebook Live team and Peter Mayhew (the man who actually played Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies) himself.

She also met with J.J. Abrams and took James Corden to work. Oh, and did we mention that the Chewbacca mask is now sold out?

It’s the internet. Don’t think about it too much. Click here , watch the video for the umpteenth and just revel in the sheer, unadulterated joy of a happy human.
