Facebook is testing a new Stories feature dedicated to organising events

Facebook will be testing this feature only in the US, Brazil, and Mexico initially.

There are many things that are wrong with Facebook — the way it handles data, how seriously it cares about the authenticity of content, compromising user privacy — but one thing we can't take away from it is its Events feature. Thanks to Facebook's existing social graph, its Events feature is one of the best ways to organise a calendar of birthdays, concerts, meetups, and invitations.

And taking this forward, according to a report by The Verge, Facebook is planning to start testing a new Stories feature that will allow users to share the events that they are interested in and coordinate to meet up.

Notably, Facebook will be testing this feature only in the US, Brazil, and Mexico initially, though with only iOS and Android app users.

Unlike the usual Facebook Stories features, this new Events feature will be specifically designed to share the details of an event with your friends. The stories will also have tappable stickers for revealing event details, with a toggle that will let your friends choose “interested” or “going” to RSVP right there. Apparently, it will also have a link to the event page built in and a way to start a group chat on Messenger with friends who responded. That actually sounds very useful.
