For those who don’t have it yet, an updated version of the Facebook iOS app is now available for download on the App Store. Now in version 6.4, the app boasts of a handful of new features including a new ability that allows users to make restaurant reservations directly on participating Pages in the US. Simply put, Facebook users in the US will be able to book tables via Pages for restaurants, using just their mobile devices. The popular social networking site has confirmed that this new feature will be available on the mobile Pages for over 20,000 OpenTable restaurant customers across North America.
Updated to version 6.4
Once you’ve got the updated app running on your iOS device, you will also be able to search for hashtags or tap them in posts to view the discussion on a particular topic. Hashtags have for long been synonymous with Twitter, but it is now a common sight on Facebook’s web version as well as on its apps.
Hashtags allow you to join a conversation or even start a discussion thread on a topic that interests you the most.
Other changes in this particular update include faster loading times and a cleaner design for timelines on iPad. Additionally, a bug in the app that caused some users to see red notification badges when there weren’t any new notifications has been fixed.
One of the previous updates to the app, in June, introduced status icons and improved privacy features. Facebook iOS app users can edit their post’s privacy so that it is visible to only people and lists they choose. Using the drop-down available when they’re writing a status update, they can tweak privacy settings of that particular status.
The Facebook app for iOS devices is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices. To be able to use this app, users would need devices running iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimised for iPhone 5.
