Facebook has introduced a new version of Messenger called Work Chat app, especially for office use. First spotted by Techcrunch, the app is an expansion of Facebook at Work.
Facebook at Work is a business platform that the social giant has been testing since January. It already has numerous companies on board. It allows co-workers to talk and collaborate. TheVerge points out that, "Everything about Facebook at Work and its new Work Chat app looks almost identical to the Facebook and Messenger we all know." This means users can still use stickers.
However, the network is limited to people only within a single company. Work Chat is now only available on Android. However, it will work only for people in companies with the limited Facebook at Work beta. So, your company is testing the product, and you can head to the Play Store and download the app.
While messaging has already been built inside of Facebook at Work app, a standalone app is being pushed out as it is said to be more capable. Needless to say, Facebook wants to be a part of the large workplace chat space wherein companies are competing such as Microsoft and Salesforce. Moreover, Slack has been rapidly growing in this space.
While Work Chat app is already available for Android, it is in works for iOS.
