Facebook is finally starting to give more teeth to its ambitious Android launcher, Facebook Home. The feature that started off to several dud reviews has been slowly finding its feet since the past few months. This time, Facebook wants Home users to have a lot more beautiful pictures on their lock screen and is hence adding support for Flickr, Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram to the launcher.
Admittedly, the lock-screen is by far one of the most loved Facebook Home features there is. So much so that Facebook added this erstwhile Home-exclusive feature to its main application for Android phones. You have an option of turning on the lock screen using Facebook for Android to view images from your Facebook News Feed when your phone is idle.

Critics and users alike had noted that this feature had a lot more potential and that Facebook was having a tough time seeing it. Looks like Facebook has finally recognised this and added the ability for one to connect photo-centric image services to Facebook Home in order to make the lock screen look a lot snazzier. The feature will not just let you see beautiful content from Flickr, Pinterest, tumblr and Instagram, but will also let you “Like” posts that you see on your screen.
Earlier in September, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had mentioned that Facebook Home will soon be able to sport feeds from Instagram and other third-party apps and has managed to make it happen soon. While Instagram is Facebook’s own photo-sharing application, it’s a nice move by the company to add the likes of Pinterest, Flickr and Tumblr to the list of services that will be able to showcase content on Facebook Home.
Currently, Facebook will be letting participants of the Facebook for Android beta programme to be able to connect these applications to their Facebook Home lock screen. If all goes well, we could be looking at the ability to connect Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Flickr with Facebook Home on all phones running it within a few weeks.
