Facebook Home gets folder organisation

Facebook has released yet another batch of its regular updates for its Home on Android and this time the social media giant has brought to the application the ability to create folders.

The tool that was being tested earlier will now be a part of Facebook Home via an update to Facebook for Android. Quite like the Android OS, you will now be able to drag applications onto another to create a folder while using Facebook’s launcher.

The feature will now cut down on the time it needs for you to access a particular application. Using the folder, you will now be able to classify the kind of applications you have on your phone, to increase your productivity.

Facebook has been releasing monthly updates to make its Home a better place for Android users. Last month, the launcher got a dock for you to pin your favourite applications. Apps were pinned to the bottom of the screen, so you didn’t need to spend time hunting for the dialer, camera or any other app you access regularly.

The launcher for Android phones was released back in April by Facebook. The launcher covered only high-end, flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and HTC One X but an additional update sees it become available to HTC One X+ and Samsung Galaxy S4 too.

The hyped Android launcher has met with a less than warm welcome by the Android community. The app is seen as being half-baked with core features that one would expect from a launcher being conspicuous by their absence. Hopefully, with a couple of more updates, the launcher will find wider acceptance. Adding a few more devices to the list of supported ones will not harm its prospects either.

The update, as usual, comes bundled with the Facebook for Android update. You can download Facebook Home for Android and Facebook for Android from the Play Store.

When not tweeting or writing about the next viral video, you will hear her proclaiming her love to Metallica, James Hetfield, Opeth, Akerfeldt and all bands that go 'growl'. She also obsesses about ACP Pradyuman and South Park and you will always find her moving around with a book. Her focus is on all the happening stuff in the tech domain, and she won't hesitate to take a shot at some of the oddball devices that make their way to our labs. see more
