Facebook app for iOS updated to v5.0

The Facebook app for iOS has now been updated to version 5.0. The app, says the company, has been rebuilt to make it faster and easier to use. Scrolling through the news feed is now faster. With the new banner, users can tap quickly to see more stories and they do not need to refresh the page. In version 5.0, users can open their photos quickly and close them with one downward swipe. The updated Facebook app also gives users instant access to their notifications. The application is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. Users would need iOS v4.3 or later, to be able to use the updated application. The app can be downloaded here.

Recently, Facebook launched a dedicated app for photos. The app currently has two functions: the first one provides in Newsfeed format, the photos that your friends upload to Facebook, be it entire albums or just wall photos and mobile uploads; the other enables photo sharing and editing. The app allows you to take a photo, add an effect, and upload it directly to your Facebook account. The filters that render photo effects are similar to those of Instagram, with names such as Emerald, Copper, Coffee and Cream. To upload photo shot using the app, or to let the app access your photo library, you have to turn on location services on your device. Those using limited data plans might want to limit the use of the app, because of this setting. The app allows you to share multiple photos in one go.
