tech2 News Staff August 7, 2014, 12:22:54 IST

The cold war between Apple and Samsung isn’t something we aren’t familiar with. From mud-slinging in court rooms to hurling accusations via TV commercials, both companies have been actively battling it out for years now. In fact, both take the battle quite personally and even put in time and effort to come up with some creative videos and images to take a dig each other’s products. Now, with the iPhone 6 set to launch on September 9 and Samsung planning to unveil the Galaxy Note 4 on September 3, they’ve again come head on.

This also means they both have less than a month to get their creative juices flowing to showcase the best of mockery.   While we wonder what we can expect this year, here’s a list of some cool potshots taken by both companies over the years.   Samsung has already started with its home work for the run up to the launch. Not too long ago, in July this year, the company released a TV commercial taking a dig at the iPhone’s poor charging capabilities. The advertisement showed people glued to their wall chargers . All through its ‘Next Big thing’ campaign, Samsung made fun of Apple users. In fact, the implications of this campaign were even felt in the court rooms. While Schiller claimed that Apple has been copying their products, Samsung said that ’their Next Big Thing ads drove Apple’s Phil Schiller crazy’.   Apple is one of the greenest companies today. In none of its print ads promoting environmental responsibility, Apple didn’t miss on the chance to mock Samsung. The print ad read, " There are some ideas we want every company to copy." Apple has dragged Samsung to court for infringing its patents, and this seems just the right way to get back.   In another Next Big Thing advertisement, Samsung took a dig at Apple for making people stand in longer queues. While in a queue, it showed people running out of battery power. Later, it showed a few other people using Galaxy smartpones and highlighted their key features and how these devices are better than the iPhone. Its hilarious, take a look below:

Schiller of Apple took the rant route before the launch. He  slammed Android and Samsung  both in an interview with Reuters, saying that the Galaxy S4 was likely to ship on old software that would end up frustrating users. “With their own data, only 16 percent of Android users are on year-old version of the operating system. Over 50 percent are still on software that is two years old. A really big difference,” he said. “And that extends to the news we are hearing this week that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is being rumored to ship with an OS that is nearly a year old. Customers will have to wait to get an update.”   Samsung has also been trying to dethrone the reigning iPad from its position. In a bid to outdo the new iPad Air, the company came up with a one-minute advertisement to introduce the Galaxy TabPRO 10.1. While Apple has said the iPad Air is as thin as a pencil, Samsung’s ad shows that its tablet is even slimmer. At the end of the advertisement  the narrator says he would only pick the Galaxy Tab and the pencil, leaving the iPad Air behind. We’re not sure Samsung sees the joke in that.

When Apple ditched Google Maps for its own mapping service, it faced a lot of user ire. Google came to the rescue and quickly rolled out its  Maps service for Apple users. Without missing a beat, Samsung quickly took a potshot at Apple. samsung_dig_apple_maps   Some reports have been suggesting that how Apple users are opting for a Samsung Galaxy premium device just for the larger screen.  During the Galaxy S5 launch, Samsung released a commercial clearly stating that while Apple users are still waiting for a bigger display, Samsung has been offering it for quite sometime now. Another low blow, we must say.

With Apple and Samsung planning to launch their premium devices next month, it’s sure going to be an exciting month. Here’s all we know about the Note 4 and iPhone 6 , so far.
