The Evernote Mac app has been updated to version 5.2 and it includes three new features – Annotatation of notes with Skitch, Document Preview and Highlighter.
The Skitch app on Evernote allows users to visually communicate their ideas. Thanks to the update now, Evernote claims that it is more ‘closely linked’ with Skitch. Users can now annotate any note in their account, save it or share it with their team. To start users will have to first install Skitch. Users can mark up the note and then click the Save to Evernote option in Skitch to create a new note with annotations.
Annotate notes with Skitch
The Skitch app allows users to annotate images as well as files such as PDFs. To annotate images within notes, users will have to click the Skitch button in Evernote and choose the image they wish to annotate. The image will then open up in Skitch and users can annotate it appropriately. PDF annotation though is open only to subscribers of Evernote Premium.
The other major update is the new Document Preview feature that shows users the contents of a file right inside their note and it works for many file types – documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and more. Additionally, there is a large drag bar along the top of the file. The drag bar comes with a Save as … icon that allows users to save the file anywhere on their PC. Evernote Premium users will also be able to search within attached documents.
Highlight the important text
The Highlighter feature on the updated app is one of the text editing tools available that allows users to highlight important parts of their note. To use it, click the highlighter to add a bright yellow background to the text.
Head over to the Mac App store to download the updated app.
