If you’re using the Evernote Food app on your iOS device, whip it out for this new update. Evernote has updated its Food application to include some new features that will help users in planning their meals better and sharing them with others.
Reserve a table right from the app!
The Evernote Food app previously allowed users to discover restaurants, and with this update, they can even make a reservation. There’s the OpenTable reservation system built right into the app. The way this new system works is that while users are browsing through the Restaurants section, they can tap on a place that they would like to add to their restaurant wish list. Now, if this restaurant is listed on OpenTable, then they’ll be able to spot a Make a Reservation option. On clicking that, users can follow the regular OpenTable booking process. Additionally, to simplify the process of choosing between so many places, Evernote says it has included Foursquare ratings. These ratings will show up to the right, just below the restaurant’s name on the Place Details screen.
Share recipes with friends
Evernote says that the app has brought in several of the web’s best recipes at the fingertips of users, and now it lets them share those too. Users can now share the recipes with their friends via Twitter, Facebook or email. Also, following the update, any recipe saved to Evernote will sync to the Evernote Food app. This latest update allows users to bring all content from Evernote or import by tag – whichever way they want. All recipes will show up in the My Cookbook section of Evernote Food. The way users can go about doing this is tapping on the elephant icon in the top left corner of the homescreen. Once done, they have to tap on the Include Recipes from Account option. From here, users can choose as many notebooks and tags, as they like. Once synced, the new notes will appear in the My Cookbook section with all notes pertaining to food that users may have saved before.
In addition to this, Evernote says it allows users to choose photos from any album on their device – they have made image uploads faster and improved search results. Evernote users in China and Japan can now even search recipes from top original publishers.
Evernote Food was last updated in December last year. At the time, users were offered four options – Explore Recipes, My Cookbook, Restaurants and My Meals. This feature was as a result of the thought that a meal usually starts hours, days, even weeks before one takes their first bite. What starts as an idea turns into a plan and finally an experience – and the app has been designed such. Those using their iPhone or iPod touch for the Evernote Food app, a simple swipe or tap of the header will bring any section into full view. Those using the iPad for the app will have to tap on a section and it opens to show the user all of its content.
